The FormWash & FormCure are used for washing and curing resin parts that have come out of the Formlabs resin (SLA) printers. This should be done shortly after print has been removed from printer. In most cases this will be handled by workshop staff but can be used by students and other staff after a face to face induction.

Start with a Risk Assessment to ensure a safe work area:

  1. Nitrile gloves and safety goggles must be worn
  2. Remove loose fitting clothing, jewellery, and tie back long hair
  3. Give the work your undivided attention
  4. Make sure the area is clear of people
  5. To use the wash and cure, speak to a member of workshop staff, or the staff assistants

Operational Safety Rules:

  1. Ensure the wash and cure are on a stable footing in their designated area
  2. When removing build plate and print from wash machine, wear nitrile gloves and goggles to protect your skin and eyes from any splashes of isopropanol alcohol. Place build platform and washed print on stand – wait for isopropanol to evaporate before placing in FormCure
  3. Use the prying tool to remove the print from the build plate. Place washed and dried print in FormCure
  4. Timings can be adjusted on both machines, consult with a staff member before doing this
