Paul Simpson uses cameras with his PR students. As part of their course the students are presented with weekly briefs. In the past the students focused on simply describing the role of images in campaigns but now they are given an opportunity to create the images themselves and experience the process of creation first hand. This page showcases some of the students work in relation to “The wild thing” campaign. The photos were discussed in groups and the most interesting ones were chosen to be displayed on the PR Fraternity Pinterest site.
Cameras were also used to document events held by PR fraternity, for example guest speaker lectures. Additionally, the students used the cameras to create their own profiles, adding their favourite quotes and a brief note about themselves and linking the photo to their LinkedIn profile. This activity encouraged students to think about their future professional development, employability and establishing their online identity. Examples of student work can be found here.
The students thoroughly enjoyed participating in the activities, found the use of cameras valuable and relevant for their future careers.
Equipment used: Nikon Coolpix
