Natasha Barrett – The spatial subject as real and abstracted in audio-visual creations
This presentation touches on two recent works: the immersive audio-visual composition “Constructions of Collapse and Desire” which uses 3D LiDAR, 3D impulse responses and ambisonics to leverage features of real-world geometry, space and acoustics; and the weatherproof outdoor sound installation “Talking Trees: a nature interactive grove”, where real-time changes in the environment effect the continuous flow of sound in a ongoing interaction between sound-art and environment.
Andrew Knight-Hill – “Reflecting Forwards” – 10 Years of SOUND/IMAGE
SOUND/IMAGE festival is a meeting place of art and ideas, which has since 2015, gathered creatives across disciplines to share and showcase their works.
In this panel discussion session we will reflect on the journey of the festival, the environment forged and where we might go next.
We don’t imagine our Festival primarily as a site of fixed presentation of finished works, but as a site of dynamic confluence, an active fora of ideas, instpiration and opportunity, animating works through dicsussion and exchange. Our goal is to open up new perspectives in a continually dynamic, evolving, and unfolding process.
This session will therefore reflect back on ten years of the SOUND/IMAGE Festival, and invite a panel of special guests to discuss key topics at the heart of this ethos:
- Articulating and exchanging approaches to creative practice.
- Imagining in Interdiciplinary ways.
- A global nexus for exchange.
- Aspirations for the future
