BoB is here! Get to know him at our July workshops

BoB flyer imageWe the librarians are extra excited that BoB (Box of Broadcasts) finally arrived in February. For a long time we’ve wanted this amazing online resource that gives you access to millions of television and radio programmes that have been broadcast on television and radio in the UK. We believe that it’s important that academics, across all subject areas get to know BoB, since audio-visual materials allow you to enhance your learning and teaching.

Our students, and probably most of us, rely more than ever on visual materials. Box of broadcasts allows you to send direct links to programmes or parts of programmes, create clips and embed them into your Moodle courses.

Colleagues from Greenwich Connect and the Library have put together a workshop to help you to get to know in depth the features in BoB for you to make the most of it for your teaching. This workshop will give you the opportunity to explore the vast archive of broadcast programmes from UK television, get to know the search facility, learn how to record programmes, create clips and your own lists to embed in Moodle.

We have scheduled two workshops that we hope you are going to find helpful, with more to follow during the academic year. In this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Find out how you can access, search, and request specific programme or clips within BoB
  • Create your own clips and embed them into Moodle/your teaching materials
  • Discuss a number of case studies and teaching ideas that made good use of BoB

The workshops will take place

  • in Greenwich on the July 14th,
  • and Avery Hill on July 16th.

You can book a place on either workshop by emailing ed@gre.ac.uk

If you cannot make any of these dates, but want to find out more, feel free to contact me, Irene Barranco, for more information.
