Box of Broadcasts National (BoB) is an online media streaming service that allows subscribers to view, request and use TV and radio programmes in teaching and learning. At present there are more than 1 million recordings in the system with more being added every day to the easily searchable archive.

Greenwich Connect identified BoB as an exciting resource that has the potential to improve the quality of teaching and learning in all subject areas. What most impressed us was the incredible ease with which course relevant audio-visual material can be identified and deployed.

Lecturers who took part in a trial at the University strongly agreed. 94% of participants strongly recommended that the University subscribe to the service. The feedback was resoundingly positive:

“I can think of little to say other than that the Box of Broadcasts service should be an essential purchase for the University. Its impact across a range of Programmes will be extraordinary”

“Accessing BoB and selecting clips etc was so simple and it opened my mind to different possibilities when teaching”

“I cannot rate this highly enough. Everything from ease of access to the quality and quantity of materials available it ticks every box for me. I can see this being so useful in getting other academics engaged in using this type of material to invigorate their teaching and learning materials. Loved it, thank you !!!”

So now BoB is here and free to use for non-commercial, educational purposes by all staff and students, based in the UK studying at the University of Greenwich.

Please visit the Library LibGuide about BoB for further information.

Demonstration events at all three campuses are being arranged so watch this space for further details.
