International Travel Bursaries

for Underrepresented Regions

About

With support from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), we are delighted to announce a special fund for bursaries to subsidise travel and accommodation for artists and scholars from historically underrepresented regions to attend and participate in this year’s SOUND/IMAGE 2024 Festival.

The goal of this fund is to amplify and champion new voices and address previous historical underrepresentation in the SOUND/IMAGE festival.

We are specifically interested in receiving proposals from artists and scholars based in Africa, Asia (particularly the South Asian Indian subcontinent; Central and West Asia and the Middle East; and Southeast Asia) as well as from across the Caribbean and Central and Southern America.

We are committed to enabling as many participants to attend as possible within the scope of our budget, and we reserve the right to offer both partial and full bursaries.

We are grateful to the AHRC for making this bursary scheme possible, via follow-on investment in Creative Research Capabilities, linked with our Shared Hub for Immersive Future Technologies

Application Process

  1. Submit your work to the SOUND/IMAGE Festival Via the usual Proposal Submission process.
  2. Submit a secondary International Travel bursary application via the link below.
  3. All Proposal Submissions are reviewed and scored out of 5. Top ranking submissions are invited to the festival.
  4. Applications to the International Travel Bursary will be assessed in parallel and correlated with the invited submissions. (This is why it is VITAL that you use the same work title as a reference between both submissions).
