Dr Jill Stewart, Associate Professor in Public Health, is running the second iteration of her Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course for the private rented housing sector this summer – May 28-30, 2025. The bespoke three-day course, The Private Rented Housing Sector: Effective Regulatory Strategy, first ran last summer and provides ongoing training for the workforce charged with regulating the private rented housing sector. The course has been developed with the support of the Institute for Lifecourse Development, and is underpinned by ongoing research in the Public Health portfolio as part of its employment focused outlook.
This short course offers a unique opportunity to study at the beautiful setting of the University of Greenwich’s Maritime Campus for three consecutive full days. The first day overviews the private rented housing sector and contemporary issues that need to be addressed; the second day focuses on application of the enforcement framework and effective interventions; and the final day takes a strategic approach to regulating the private rented housing sector.
The course is taught by a range of academics, legal and practitioner experts in the field from across the country and enables networking with like-minded managers and practitioners. Course delegates need at least a year’s experience working in working in local authority private sector housing teams or similar. Last year’s attendees were full of praise for the course, with delegate feedback including “One of best courses I have been on!” and “Friendly, accessible, interesting, inspiring, great speakers, thanks!”.
