A painter’s 40-year obsession with architecture

Ben Johnson was born in Wales in 1946 and studied at the Royal College of Art, London. He has recently exhibited at the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, Spain; the Galerie Rudolfinum, Prague; the National Gallery, London and the Alan Cristea Gallery, London.

He is currently exhibiting at the Museo de Bellas Artes, Bilbao and in Abu Dhabi, and in November will be exhibiting at the New Orleans Museum of Art.

He was made an honorary Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects for his contribution to the public’s understanding of contemporary architecture. He has just won the Threadneedle Prize Visitors’ Choice Award.

He lives and works in London.
