All students attending Design & Communication 2 on Thursdays have three weeks (3 Thursdays) dedicated to visit galleries and exhibitions.

  • You need to fill an A4 sketchbook entitled Gallery & Exhibition Notebook.
  • This notebook will be submitted for marking and will be 25% of the visual studies portfolio.
  • The book must show evidence that you have visited the galleries and have considered the work in depth. We want to see a critical appraisal. Make notes, take photographs and draw. Why do you like or dislike the work?
  • Discuss the resonance of the piece, the space it occupies, how the work compares with similar artists working in the same genre, the materials used to construct the piece.
  • Your design tutors may also recommend exhibitions for you to visit – use the same notebook.
  • Details of these exhibitions can be found on www.newexhibitions.com
  • Don’t forget to take a photograph of the gallery and show proof that you have visited it.
  • Have a good time!
