3D Print by Dunya Hatem; Unit 3

This is a 3d print by Dunya Hatem of Unit 3; Itinerant Utopias.  It is made on the Dimension ABS printer.

“Futuristic furniture made from aluminium welded together to form a freeform organic structure. It is designed to be a chair with sensors that record the space it is in and how the people inhabit the space, saving that information into a virtual memory.”

Here is the Rhino render of the model

The extended wires were omitted from the 3d print as they would have been unlikely to work but would still have used a lot of support material. The model was printed in two parts and then fixed back together afterwards; here it is before it was taken out of the support structure:

The model stands about 120 mm high and cost £40 to print.  The main section had lots of reversed faces and could only be fixed by shelling it and printing it as a hollow shell.
