Inspiral London: Day of Sound – @ University of Greenwich – 24/9/16
As part of Inspiral London Festival 2016, join us in Greenwich on Saturday September 24th 2016 for Inspiral London: Day of Sound.
Looking at sound walking, field recording and live audio streaming, we’ll consider how actively listening to the soundscapes around us can enhance our awareness and understanding of the spaces in which we find ourselves, and how we can share them remotely in real time or as archived recordings.
We’ll take a soundwalk along the Thames Path to Enderby’s Wharf, currently undergoing major transformation into a cruise ship terminal and the site of Over Time, a multidisciplinary art project curated by Anne Robinson in September 2014. Some artists from the Over Time project will be revisiting their work along the foreshore at low tide, reflecting on changes that have taken place over two years.
We’ll share a picnic lunch have a chance to record in the soundscape while there, and there’ll be a live audio stream from Enderby’s Wharf via Locuscast during our visit.
To round off the day, we’ll upload our recordings to Radio Aporee as a permanent archive.
Schedule:
10.30 – 11.00 – Meet at University of Greenwich, 10 Stockwell Street SE10 9BD

Noise Colloquium 2015
(March 2015)
A two-day colloquium to exploring noise in music and art.
Noise as a concept that embraces the expressive, the idea of noise as a resistance and, through mutating repetition, a catalyst for creative production.
From this perspective noise moves out of the solely auditory register into a multisensory realm of non- representational logic.
The event welcomed international musicians and artists including Nicholas Collins from the University of Chicago, David Toop from London College of Communication, Atau Tanaka from Goldsmiths, Rie Nakajima and Dirty Electronics.
