The meaning of the things we do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The direction in which we move\u2026 where we are going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Complications and complexities that are smoothed out with the passing,\nin one way or another, for the good, for the bad sometimes. Time is a fiction\nthat surprises us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the action, the startles, the interventions and the infinite searches, the reflection, and a step after the previous one, among the thousands of the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Biography<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dr<\/strong>. <strong>Ricardo\nDal Farra <\/strong>(Buenos Aires, 1957)\nis a composer and new media artist, educator, historian, and curator working in\nthe intersection of the arts, sciences, and technology. He is a Professor at\nthe Music Department of Concordia University, Canada (<a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/SeuhUx\">http:\/\/goo.gl\/SeuhUx<\/a>) and founder-director of the\nElectronic Arts Experimentation and Research Centre &#8211; CEIARTE of the National\nUniversity of Tres de Febrero, Argentina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He\nhas been researcher and consultant on electroacoustic music and media arts\nhistory for UNESCO, France; director of the Hexagram Centre for\nResearch-Creation in Media Arts and Technologies, Canada; associated researcher\nof the Music, Technology and Innovation Research Centre at De Montfort\nUniversity, in the UK; senior consultant of the Amauta &#8211; Andean Media Arts\nCentre in Cusco, Peru; coordinator of the international research alliance DOCAM\n&#8211; Documentation and Conservation of the Media Arts Heritage; and director of\nthe Multimedia Communication national program at the Federal Ministry of\nEducation, Argentina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dal\nFarra has presented his sound-art, electroacoustic and visual-music works in\nmore than 40 countries, and recordings of his pieces are published in 23\ninternational editions (including CDs by Computer Music Journal and Leonardo\nMusic Journal, by MIT Press). Among others, he received awards and commissions\nfrom the Sao Paulo International Arts Biennale, Brazil; the National Endowment\nfor the Arts, Argentina, the Concours International de Musique\nElectroacoustique de Bourges, France; the Centro di Sonologia Computazionale of\nthe University of Padua, Italy; and the International Computer Music\nAssociation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Funded\nby The Daniel Langlois Foundation for Art, Science and Technology of Montreal,\nhe created the largest collection publicly available of Latin American\nElectroacoustic Music, including a database with over 2,000 recordings of works\ndigitally preserved, composed 1957-2007 by almost 400 composers, and +200,000\nwords (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fondation-langlois.org\/html\/e\/page.php?NumPage=556\">http:\/\/www.fondation-langlois.org\/html\/e\/page.php?NumPage=556<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dal\nFarra is founder-director of the international conference series <em>Understanding Visual Music<\/em> &#8211; UVM (held\nin Canada, Argentina, and Brazil), and founder-director of the international\nconference series <em>Balance-Unbalance<\/em>\n(held in Argentina, Canada, Australia, United States, Colombia, the UK, and The\nNetherlands) on how the media arts could contribute to solving the\nenvironmental crisis (<a href=\"http:\/\/balance-unbalance2017.org\/\">http:\/\/balance-unbalance2018.org<\/a>).\nHe also has been leading art-science projects, like the three editions of the\nsound-art international contest organized with the Red Cross Climate Centre, and\ndesigned multiple art-science-technology educational programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Dal Farra was the artistic director of the Mexican electronic arts biennale Transitio in 2015, and a guest keynote at Congreso Internacional de Humanidades Digitales (2016) and SIGRaDi &#8211; Ibero-American Digital Graphic (2016), held in Argentina, and HDRio &#8211; I Congresso Internacional em Humanidades Digitais (2018), held in Brazil. He is an active member of several editorial boards: Leonardo\/ISAST (MIT Press, USA), Organised Sound (Cambridge Press, UK), Journal of Research on Music Education (ADOMU, Argentina), Resonancias &#8211; Musical Research Journal (Catholic University of Chile), and organizations such as: Electroacoustic Music Studies Network, Colegio Latinoamericano de Compositores de M\u00fasica de Arte, and Earth-to-the-Earth.
