Our short courses provide a focused environment to learn new subjects through intensive two-day sessions. These courses take place in the Shared Hub for Immersive Future Technologies (SHIFT), where we explore immersive digital concepts using professional-grade facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether you are a beginner or a practitioner seeking a refresher, these sessions offer a mix of theoretical insight and practical tools to work with the immersive technologies emerging in the creative industries today. Creative Sound Design for Music in Ableton Live<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This short course will explore creative sound design for Music using Ableton Live. Within the course you will explore various tools which will allow you to work with both recorded and synthesised sounds. [COMING SOON]<\/strong> Spatial Audio with the IKO Loudspeaker<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This short course provides a unique opportunity to work with our IKO loudspeaker. During this 2-day workshop you will learn how to use ambisonic microphones to record sound, and use Reaper software to edit, process, and mix IKO-ready audio. Artists, musicians, and composers working with audio technology will benefit from the course, plus producers and engineers keen to discover more about the creative potential of the IKO.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Residencies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our Artistic Residency programme provides dedicated time for creative practice development in our world class lab facilities SHIFT (Shared Hub for Immersive Future Technologies)<\/a>. Whether you’re exploring new creative territory, developing a specific project, or pushing your technical skills into unfamiliar areas, our residency programme gives you the freedom to experiment, take risks, and grow as an artist, with mentoring and support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout your residency, you’ll have access to our specialist spaces, designed to enable experimentation and innovation, including \u2013 Virtual Production Film Studio, 32.4 Spatial Audio Sound Lab, Immersive Digital Theatre \u2013 as well as mentoring from experienced practitioners and researchers within SOUND\/IMAGE, giving you a sounding board for ideas, honest critical feedback, and guidance rooted in applied practice research. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are committed to inclusion and have a strong track record of helping artists secure funding to support their residency, such as through the Developing Your Creative Practice (DYCP)<\/a> funding from Arts Council England \u2014 grants designed specifically to give individual practitioners the time and resources to focus on their development and take their work to the next stage. If you’re considering applying, we can offer guidance and support through that process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
