First, the course will provide a historical understanding of the development of institutional racism in Britain. <br><br>Secondly, the course will demonstrate how institutional racism is identified and evidenced. <br><br>Thirdly, the programme will look at the development of organisations and movements which challenge institutional racism in Britain the 20<sup>th<\/sup> and 21<sup>st<\/sup> centuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>Who is the course for?<\/strong><br>This course is for students and researchers with an interest in race, inequalities and social change. It is also for policy-makers and practitioners working on issues relating to racism or with groups of people effected by institutional racism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>Topics Covered<\/strong><br>This is an engaging three day course covering the history, theory and evidence as well as resistance to institutional racism in Britain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">The first day will examine the history of British institutions, both on the British mainland and in the colonies. This will enable learners to better understand the historical roots of British racism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">The second day of the course will examine the different definitions of racism and institutional racism, to improve our conceptual understanding of the topic. This second day will also be empirical, with an examination of how institutional racism can be found in 21<sup>st<\/sup> century Britain in areas including criminal justice, the media and education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">The third day of the programme will focus on resistance.
