The project has been 18 months in the making and is a perfect reflection of the ideology and intention of Project 78. The show will run until 29th August 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"808\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.gre.ac.uk\/scholarsinspotlight\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2020\/08\/Jim-Hobbs-808x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2601\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.gre.ac.uk\/scholarsinspotlight\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2020\/08\/Jim-Hobbs-808x1024.jpg 808w, https:\/\/blogs.gre.ac.uk\/scholarsinspotlight\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2020\/08\/Jim-Hobbs-237x300.jpg 237w, https:\/\/blogs.gre.ac.uk\/scholarsinspotlight\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2020\/08\/Jim-Hobbs.jpg 1417w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For&nbsp;<em>Moribund State(s),<\/em>&nbsp;Hobbs has returned to his childhood home (Ohio, USA) in order to confront the place where one is originally from.&nbsp; With a perspective that is only gained from a distance (in both time and space), he has gathered indigenous materials in order to forge a series of new works which poetically ascribe a familiar yet foreign place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--nextpage-->\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-vimeo wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"MORIBUND STATE(S)\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/437894539?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"525\" height=\"295\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/protect-eu.mimecast.com\/s\/iOK4CmOo1c15kRjtGAE9r?domain=vimeo.com\" target=\"_blank\">MORIBUND STATE[S] &#8211; Video Trailer<\/a><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Anamorphic 16mm film projection combined with digital animation, light pieces choreographed with computer coding (housed in stripped down industrial looking structures inspired by antiquated parabolic lighting blueprints from his father\u2019s archive), new school\/old school polaroid photographs, and sounds whose manipulation is a deconstruction of time and meaning from a \u201crecorded prayer\u201d.&nbsp; Together, they work on loops but as they have different time spans they endlessly make new pieces\/ conversations \/ connections constantly reinventing the work, with chaos and calm arriving at unbeknownst times. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The work and the implied narrative hint at something: distance, time, relationship to space\/place.&nbsp; These interweaving sensorial systems enable unexpected things to happen.&nbsp; There is a poetry here &#8211; an ethereal sense of the known, the recognized.
