HEA Fellowship & the UKPSF

UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF)

Associate Fellow (AFHEA) and Fellow (FHEA) of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) are gained by demonstrating that of requisite aspects of the  UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) have been met:

For AFHEA (UKPSF Descriptor 1), this involves demonstrating:

  • engagement in at least two of the five Areas of Activity including A2 as mandatory
  • evidence of understanding at least K1 and K2 in Core Knowledge
  • commitment to the four Professional Values.

For FHEA (UKPSF Descriptor 2), this involves demonstrating:

  • engagement across all five of Areas of Activity
  • understanding to all six Core Knowledge
  • commitment to the four Professional Values.

The University’s GOLD Framework provides a way to take this professional accreditation further in the future, by building an application for Senior Fellowship of the HEA.
