Jingxi\u2019s passion for sustainability goes beyond academic theory. \u201cIt\u2019s a long-term challenge that affects both our generation and the next,\u201d she explains.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cAs scholars, our work is often about helping people reflect and think differently. I believe that if we can find creative and memorable ways to connect with people\u2019s psychology, we can encourage more sustainable behaviours. At the same time, this can create value for businesses and communities. If I can contribute, even in small ways, by doing something meaningful and perhaps a little unexpected or creative, then I feel the research is worthwhile.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Her research explores how emotions and context influence everyday decisions\u2014like how guilt can override personality traits in green hotel programmes. \u201cEven small interventions can shift behaviour,\u201d she says, \u201cand that\u2019s where real impact begins.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As an early career researcher, Dr Jingxi Huang is particularly attuned to the subtle yet powerful ways cities shape\u2014and are shaped by\u2014demographic change. \u201cI\u2019m interested in how cities respond to life stages like ageing and menopause,\u201d she explains. \u201cThese are often overlooked in urban discussions, yet they deeply influence daily experiences and well-being.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her work highlights the importance of designing urban systems that are not only sustainable but also inclusive. \u201cCities concentrate people, businesses and services,\u201d she notes. \u201cThat means even small behavioural shifts can scale up to a big impact.\u201d For Jingxi, the opportunity lies in crafting creative, psychologically informed solutions that support both sustainable choices and more age-friendly communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-ad2f72ca wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<p>This perspective also informs her interdisciplinary collaborations.
