A rubric allows the teacher to easily score the performance of an assignment against a set of criteria on a scale. Please note: when a rubric is attached to a particular assignment, it is available to anyone grading within that assignment.
To open the rubric while marking an assignment, you must click on the rubric icon in the right-hand menu of Turnitin’s document viewer. To grade, click on the relevant criterion scales. The template rubric won’t have numeric cell values so you need to add your grade manually.
Clicking on the expand icon will load the rubric in expanded view. The rubric will load in a new window. Expanded view is particularly useful for larger rubrics and to see particular criteria within the context of the wider rubric.
You can provide general feedback to your students either in free text form or by recording some audio feedback.
The text summary comment box can be accessed from the Feedback Summary side panel. From the online grading toolbar, select the feedback summary icon to open the Feedback Summary side panel.
To leave a text comment, simply click in the text box provided, and begin typing. Please see below the template for written feedback on assessed work. This should be provided to students within 15 working days of the assignment deadline, ideally in advance of the next comparable piece of assessment.
