Students on the Global Health Management<\/a> and Global Public Health<\/a> programmes have launched a new Health Management Society with the support of Dr Amal Elamin<\/a> and Dr Itohan Osayande<\/a>. The student-led event was attended by over 60 public health students and faculty members, with an impressive 140 members registered with the society already. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The society will provide a space for students to connect socially, apply theoretical concepts from the classroom, build relevant skills such as communication and project management, and create opportunities for real-world learning and leadership. The society also publishes a dedicated blog offering a platform for emerging voices in global health, and invites contributions from all members Health Management Society Blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n

Nelly Asiko, the society\u2019s president, noted that the launch is \u201cjust the start of a vision<\/em>\u201d, with the society\u2019s formation arising from student leadership, creativity and collaboration, along with support from Dr Elamin as the programme leader on the MSc in Global Health Management, and Dr Osayande as the society mentor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event also included the screening of a short film<\/a> produced by the students, documenting the society\u2019s journey from its earliest concept to its official launch (and if you want to see the one with bloopers included at the end, you can view it here<\/a>!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Membership is open to students across the university, and updates on upcoming initiatives and events will be announced by the society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
