Undergraduate students practicing and honing their skills working with Olympic medallist

Sport & Exercise Science students have had opportunities to work with an Olympic medallist and their team and practice the skills that they learn during laboratory classes. The students use the same equipment and skills that they learn to use and apply them to help test and monitor the athlete and their training group every three months.

Not only do the students gain experience using their skills in a professional environment but the athletes also share their social media with the students and tag them into reporting the testing session, helping to expands the students’ professional network. This is fantastic experience for enhancing students CVs for future employability.

Staff and student have also been supporting athletes on the University’s American Football team, the Greenwich Mariners. Led by Mark Chapman, Senior Lecturer in Sports Science and Coaching, students developed a three week programme designed to develop individual training plans for players.

For more details of future opportunities to work with athletes, please contact Mark Chapman. If you are interested in finding out more about the Greenwich Mariners, their Instagram account has details of the team, training and more.
