The University has partnered with Student Switch Off (delivered by the National Union of Students) since 2014! Student Switch Off (SSO) is a not-for-profit international campaign encouraging student action on climate change.
From leaving lids on pans to turning down the heating, SSO provides a host of engaging materials, in addition to friendly visits to halls themselves. Quizzes, surveys and competitions occur all occur, with cash prizes! But the biggest prize comes to the flat which has saved the most energy throughout the course of the year- tubs of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream!
We provide SSO with energy data, so we know who’s done the best! All your actions will save the University money, but importantly save on energy and carbon emissions too.
You can become an SSO Ambassador too. Every year there’s an opportunity to sign-up and be a volunteer with the campaign, encouraging your friends and neighbours to get involved. Get rewards, certificates and LinkedIN references for taking part, and there is even a community network so you can share ideas with fellow ambassadors across the country.
For more information about the project and how to sign-up, visit the Greenwich Student Switch Off Website.
