{"id":67,"date":"2019-07-08T12:29:37","date_gmt":"2019-07-08T11:29:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.gre.ac.uk\/cmssupport\/?page_id=67"},"modified":"2025-01-18T16:42:28","modified_gmt":"2025-01-18T16:42:28","slug":"classroom-environment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.gre.ac.uk\/cmssupport\/systems\/classroom-environment\/","title":{"rendered":"Classroom environment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Virtual Classroom Environment is used in teaching on the following modules in term 2:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>COMP1475: System Administration and Security<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>COMP1629: Penetration Testing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>COMP1638: Database Management &amp; Administration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>COMP1702: Big Data<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>COMP1797: Wireless &amp; Mobile Technologies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>COMP1835: Graph and Modern Databases<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note: <\/strong>Virtual Machines (VMs) can only be accessed from computers connected to the main University network (computers in the IT labs or libraries, and from virtual desktop). If you are using your own computer you need to ensure you connect to virtual desktop first &#8211; see the instructions at the bottom of this page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"help-with-the-classroom-environment\">Accessing your VMs:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To access your VM, open a command prompt and then copy and paste the command that your lecturer has given you into the command prompt and then press the enter key \u2013 for example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"847\" height=\"144\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.gre.ac.uk\/cmssupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2024\/09\/vmrc1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2431\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.gre.ac.uk\/cmssupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2024\/09\/vmrc1.png 847w, https:\/\/blogs.gre.ac.uk\/cmssupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2024\/09\/vmrc1-300x51.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.gre.ac.uk\/cmssupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2024\/09\/vmrc1-768x131.png 768w, https:\/\/blogs.gre.ac.uk\/cmssupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2024\/09\/vmrc1-840x144.png 840w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 847px) 100vw, 847px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The VMware Remote Console should now open (see below for help if it doesn\u2019t).<br><br>Enter your username and password when prompted and the VM will open.
