What happens on this programme?

This programme has been specifically designed to equip students with skills in the use of a wide range of digital audio technologies enabling them to capture, compose and design sounds to meet the demands of a diverse, dynamic and evolving creative industry.

Students have the opportunity to tailor the programme to their own specific interests by selecting from a range of optional courses which complement the core curriculum.

Programme Structure

Year One

In the first year students take three core courses, exploring key aspects of Sound Design practice.

And get to choose from the following optional courses:

Year Two

In the second year students continue to build upon the skills they have developed, applying their knowledge to specific creative contexts.

Year Three

In the final year of the degree students undertake an advanced project in an area of their choice, while continuing to develop their skill set through a series of advanced courses.

Where Next?

Beyond Sound Design at Greenwich…

Sound Design is a significant and expanding sector of the creative industries. Building upon its already substantial role in the traditional areas (film, television, computer games, radio, animation, music production, theatre and advertising), Sound Design is increasingly found within interactive museum exhibits, smartphone applications, and physical product design.

Graduates may go on to work in any one of these areas, but will also be equipped with the skills that allow them to work flexibly within a range of contexts should they choose to pursue portfolio careers.

There are also opportunities for students to undertake postgraduate study in Sound Design to MA or PhD level.
