We finished our week of Celebrate Difference and Diversity 2014 at our Avery Hill Campus and what a great way to round off the events.

We had a range of different stalls and activities including Global Greenwich from our International Office, mental health from Oxleas and Zoe Linekar our Mental Health Adviser, Learning and Talent Development, LGBT Staff Network and their lego competition, our BSc Health and Wellbeing Students were in attendance as was the lovely Lily from Dog Assistance in Disability.  We also had the university Craft Club showing off their skills with knitting and crochet and our HR colleague Ibi volunteered to do some hairdressing which she did very successfully.  It was a great day.Avery Hill Celebrate hairdressing 1 Maggie KnittingMexican Doll 1

As part of Celebrate 2014 our Sustainability Team are offering a special gardening session in the university edible garden on Friday 21 March.

You will be able to plant seeds which will form part of the crop of vegetables for this year’s garden and learn how to plant willow.  You can see the plans for this year, visit the forest garden or the orchard, investigate the polytunnel or try your hand at watering and weeding.

So if you would like to have a go or just come along and chat to Emily and Alex from the Sustainability Team and see what the garden is all about, then find them in the garden behind David Fussey Building, Southwood Site between 11.00 am and 2.00 pm next Friday.

Wear Are You From Day – 21 March 2014

As part of Celebrate Difference and Diversity 2014 we have decided to make Friday 21 March ‘Wear are you From’ Day.

The staff and students of the university are made up of people from all over the world, so show us ‘Wear you are From’.

You could do this in a number of ways for example;

  • National dress
  • International sports top
  • Something that shows your region or county
  • Wear clothes in the colour of your country’s flag

You might have some other ideas but whatever you do, join in and show us ‘Wear you are From’!
