The Stephen Lawrence Poetry Prize

Cherry Smyth, Senior Lecturer in Poetry has set up The Stephen Lawrence Poetry Prize to honour Stephen Lawrence, and his mother, Doreen’s fight for justice. 

In honour of Stephen, and his mother Doreen Lawrence’s 18 year fight for justice, we invite you to submit a poem of no more than 30 lines to mail@cherrysmyth.com by March 23rd at 6pm.

The judges are Sophie Mayer, author of Her Various Scalpels and The Private Parts of Girls (Salt) and Andra Simons, author of The Joshua Tales (The Treehouse Press).

The winner will be announced at the end of term Poetry Reading on March 30th in KW 002 5.30-7.30pm where there will be readings by Sophie and Andra and creative writing students.
