The Design Roast is an open discussion group for anyone interested in creative design practices and theories of cross-disciplinarity, interactive design, new media technologies, visual communication and philosophies of the state-of-the current and future design.

The idea is derived from  “The Thursday Club” – Goldsmith’s, University of London- founded by  professor Janis Jefferies in 2005, and this is our third year running the series at the university of Greenwich, London.

The Design Roast series is supported by the Department of Creative Professions and Digital Arts, Faculty of Architecture Computing & Humanities and organised by Anastasios Maragiannis, Academic Portfolio Leader – Principal Lecturer in Design .

Regular meetings will take place in physical space at the Brand New Stockwell Street building of Greenwich University, 11_0004 Lecture theatre.

By keeping these meetings free, informal and open to all, we provide a platform for diverse and open ended discourse, for students, and creative people who perhaps would not have the opportunity to discuss ideas outside of their chosen disciplines.

The Design Roast series will bring together people from diverse fields and degrees of expertise, aiming to initiate discussions and debates among postgraduate students, researchers, academics, artists, theorists, designers and other creative practitioners.

We particularly welcome the proposal of round table discussions, panels, portfolio screenings and presentations, ‘hearings’, live gigs and performance lectures. We are also interested to platform experimental work-in-progress of both practical and theoretical nature.

if your proposal is selected then you are expected to prepare a minimum 500 words paper and presentation.

The deadline for the 1st submission of proposals is by 17 Sept 2012. DEADLINE EXTENDED

The submissions will be reviewed by the Design Roast Board and you will hear from us by the end of September 2012.
