This lecture will present the work of Groundlab, an emerging international practice of Landscape Urbanism. Groundlab was founded in 2008 and has been engaged in a number of large scale urban projects exploring Landscape Urbanism as a new mode of practice and as an alternative model to tackle the challenges posed by contemporary urban conditions.

Alfredo Ramírez is an architect and founder-director of Groundlab. He studied Architecture in Mexico City, and the AA graduate programme Landscape Urbanism in 2005. At Groundlab he has won and developed competitions, workshops, exhibitions and projects, including winning entries for Longgang City international competition master plan and the international horticultural exhibition in Xian. Alfredo co-directs the AA Landscape Urbanism programme and is the director of the AA Mexico City Visiting School. He has lectured worldwide on Landscape Urbanism and the work of Groundlab.
